Unhelpful University Policies: no disabled parking permit

When I sprained my foot and was on crutches for 6 weeks, I got a campus disabled parking permit, without which I would not have been able to get to classes or to South Hall. There is no longer any such thing — to park in campus disability sites you have to have a state-issued disabled parking permit. This has something to do with a lawsuit, which I assume was also the cause of the removal of parking spaces from the general pool to create disabled parking spaces in the parking structure at Hearst Ave and Oxford, too far away from anything to be useful to anyone who needs such parking.

Next time I sprain something, I’m staying home till I’m well. If the campus doesn’t want to help me get to class, they’ll have to figure out how to cover my classes for me.

This is much worse for students, whose classes will of course go on without them.
