For a paper I’m writing, I’m looking for a good quote — from a poem would be best of all, but an essay or novel would do — about the fascination of looking into people’s lighted windows at night, seeing into people’s lives. I know I’ve read something like this — the first time I encountered it, I thought, “Oh, so I’m not the only one?” But I need a good quote to use as an epigraph for a paper.
A quick Google search turned up nothing, though of course it’s a hard search to formulate. Any ideas?
